Welcome to my in-home yoga studio! Whether one-on-one or with a group of friends, I can put together a yoga class to meet your body's needs.

In BriefJoe has been doing yoga since 2004. Prior to yoga, Joe’s practice was primarily sitting at a desk, hunched over a computer. Needless to say, his first yoga class was an eye-opener.
Joe has explored several schools of Hatha Yoga including Forrest, Yin, and Iyengar. Joe finished his 200 hour yoga teacher certification at Bloom Yoga Studio in June 2016. Joe’s class puts an emphasis on safety, breath, and alignment as the foundation to a healthy yoga practice. In addition, Joe has been trained in Trauma-Informed Yoga (TIY) and volunteers at the Cook County Jail teaching TIY to inmates. Joe has three daughters. In his free time, Joe can be found hiking, in the garden, strumming a guitar, or flying a kite. |

My Approach
YOGA - MY PERSPECTIVEYoga promotes health; emotional, intellectual, and physical. Its first element is the breath (pranayama), its second element is quieting the mind (dhyana), its third element is the physical challenge (asanas) while maintaining breath and mind (elements one and two).
|
ALIGNMENTSafety is key. Injuries happen when trying to push ourselves without consideration to alignment. To avoid injury, we move consciously with our breath and focus our attention on our alignment. Over time, alignment becomes the unconscious norm in our practice. Our practice become our meditation (dhyana).
|
LET GO OF THE EGOWhile fancy asanas are fun and can promote oohs and ahhs, our true personal practice should strive to eliminate the ego. Our practice is not for others or for our ego. It's fundamentally for our emotional and physical health. An ego practice introduces unnecessary risk. For every asana, understand why you are doing it.
